Question 1.
Azhar has a trapezium shaped farm. He divide it into three parts as shown in the figure.
Show that the(RBSESolutions.com)area of the trapezium PQRS = Area of ∆SPT + area of rectangle STUR + area of ∆RUQ. And compare it with the area of the trapezium h x \(\frac { (a+b) }{ 2 }\)
Solution:
Area of ∆ SPT
= \(\frac { Base\times Height }{ 2 } \)
From (1) and (2) we find that area of trapezium PQRS is equal by both ways.

Question 2.
Is trapezium having different parameter(RBSESolutions.com)has same area? Prove with the help of the data given in the following figures.
Solution:
(i) Perimeter of Trapezium = 4 + 9 + 8 + 9 = 30 units
PT is parallel to QR and PU ⊥ RS
∵ PT || QR and PQ || TR
∴ PQRT is a(RBSESolutions.com)parallelogram.
∴ PT = QR = 9 unit and TR = PQ = 4 unit
∴ ST = RS – RT = 8 – 4 = 4 unit
From (i), (ii) and (iii) it is clear that trapezium having(RBSESolutions.com)different perimeters can not have same area.
