Rajasthan Board RBSE Class 5 English Grammar Punctuation Marks

Punctuation Marks : Comma, full stop, inverted commas and question mark –
Punctuation Marks (विराम चिह्न) visual indicators (दृश्य संकेतक) हैं जिन्हें लेखन या छपाई में प्रयोग किया जाता है ताकि वाक्यों को या वाक्यों के विभिन्न भागों को अलग किया जा सके। | ये वाक्य में ठहराव को इंगित करते हैं।

Uses of Comma [ , ] – सबसे कम ठहराव को इंगित करता है।

1. एक ही वर्ग के दो से अधिक शब्द अलग करने में
We read Hindi, English, Mathematics etc. in the Class

2. संबोधन कारक में
Ram, come here.

3. व्यक्ति के नाम की उपाधि/पदवी/पद से अलग करने में
She is Seema Soni, the Physical Education Teacher.

4. Reporting Verb को Direct Speech से अलग करने मैं

Uses of Full Stop [.] – सबसे लम्बे ठहराव को इंगित करता है।

1. एक साधारण वाक्य के अन्त में –
I read in V class.

2. एक आदेशात्मक (imperative) वाक्य के अन्त में –
Come here.

3. समय दर्शाने पर घंटे को मिनट से अलग करने में –
I reach school at 7.30 in the morning.

4. दिनांक को निम्न प्रकार दर्शाने में –
Today’s date is 21.11.20

Use of Inverted Commas [‘…’]

1. एक Word या phrase को emphasize (प्रभावी बनाने) करने के लिए –
I think today’s “education’ is aimless.

2. Essays (निबंधों)/stories (कहानियों)/poems (कविताओं) aufs titles (शीर्षकों) को enclose करने के लिए –
John Keats’ poem ‘Ode To A Nightingle’ is very good.
Jane Taylor’s poem “The Star’ is full of nursery rhymes.

Use of Question Mark [?]
1. Direct question के अन्त में

2. Elliptical question (संक्षिप्त प्रश्न) के अंत में –
