## Rajasthan Board RBSE Class 6 Maths Chapter 5 Fractions Ex 5.1

Question 1.

Write the fractions to (RBSESolutions.com) represent shaded parts of the following.

Solution.

Following is the fractions of shaded parts –

(i) [latex s=1]\frac { 2 }{ 4 } [/latex] = [latex s=1]\frac { 1 }{ 2 } [/latex]

(ii) [latex s=1]\frac { 4 }{ 6 } [/latex] = [latex s=1]\frac { 2 }{ 3 } [/latex]

(iii) [latex s=1]\frac { 6 }{ 10 } [/latex] = [latex s=1]\frac { 3 }{ 5 } [/latex]

Question 2.

Show the following (RBSESolutions.com) fractions by diagram.

(i) [latex s=1]\frac { 3 }{ 5 } [/latex]

(ii) [latex s=1]\frac { 5 }{ 4 } [/latex]

(iii) [latex s=1]\frac { 3 }{ 6 } [/latex]

(iv) 2 [latex s=1]\frac { 2 }{ 5 } [/latex]

Solution.

Showing given fractions by diagrams

Question 3.

What is the fraction for 35 minutes to 1 hour?

Solution.

Question 4.

Write the fraction for (RBSESolutions.com) even numbers 1 to 15.

Solution.

Even numbers 1 to 15 = 2, 4, 6, 8, 10, 12, 14.

Total even numbers = 7

Hence, fraction = [latex s=1]\frac { 7 }{ 15 } [/latex]

Question 5.

Look at the following figures and write the fraction for its uncolored parts.

Solution.

Following fractions represents the uncolored parts of given figrues-

(i) [latex s=1]\frac { 3 }{ 4 } [/latex]

(ii) [latex s=1]\frac { 6 }{ 10 } [/latex] = [latex s=1]\frac { 3 }{ 5 } [/latex]

(iii) [latex s=1]\frac { 2 }{ 3 } [/latex]

Question 6.

Show the following (RBSESolutions.com) fractions on number line.

(i) [latex s=1]\frac { 3 }{ 5 } [/latex]

(ii) [latex s=1]\frac { 3 }{ 7 } [/latex]

(iii) [latex s=1]\frac { 8 }{ 3 } [/latex]

Solution.

Question 7.

Express the following (RBSESolutions.com) in mixed fractions.

(i) [latex s=1]\frac { 20 }{ 3 } [/latex]

(ii) [latex s=1]\frac { 11 }{ 5 } [/latex]

(iii) [latex s=1]\frac { 19 }{ 6 } [/latex]

Solution.

Question 8.

Express the following in (RBSESolutions.com) improper fractions.

(i) 7 [latex s=1]\frac { 2 }{ 3 } [/latex]

(ii) 5 [latex s=1]\frac { 3 }{ 4 } [/latex]

(iii) 4 [latex s=1]\frac { 1 }{ 2 } [/latex]

Solution.

On expressing fractions as improper fraction –

Dividend = Divisor × Quotient + Remainder

(i) 3 × 7 + 2 = 21 + 2 = 23

Thus, improper fraction = [latex s=1]\frac { 23 }{ 2 } [/latex]

(ii) 4 × 5 + 3= 20+ 3 = 23

Thus, improper fraction = [latex s=1]\frac { 23 }{ 4 } [/latex]

(iii) 2 × 4 + 1 = 8 + 1 = 9

Thus, improper fraction = [latex s=1]\frac { 9 }{ 2 } [/latex]
