Solution.

On coverting fractions in simple form

Question 4.

Answer the following and (RBSESolutions.com) show how did you solve these?

(i) Are [latex s=1]\frac { 12 }{ 15 } [/latex] and [latex s=1]\frac { 15 }{ 30 } [/latex] equal ?

(ii) Are [latex s=1]\frac { 4 }{ 5 } [/latex] and [latex s=1]\frac { 5 }{ 6 } [/latex] equal ?

(iii) Are [latex s=1]\frac { 3 }{ 5 } [/latex] and [latex s=1]\frac { 9 }{ 15 } [/latex] equal ?

(iv) Are [latex s=1]\frac { 9 }{ 16 } [/latex] and [latex s=1]\frac { 5 }{ 9 } [/latex] equal ?

Solution.

Question 5.

20 students passed with first division (RBSESolutions.com) in the class A of 25 students. In class B, 24 students passed with first division out of 30 students. From which class more part of students passed with first division?

Solution.

Total students in class A = 25

Students passed in first division = 20

Since, simple form of both fractions is [latex s=1]\frac { 4 }{ 5 } [/latex], Thus, equal part of students passed with first division in both class.

Question 6.

Rohit eats 4 chapatis out (RBSESolutions.com) of total 8. Rohini eats [latex s=1]\frac { 1 }{ 4 } [/latex] of total 8 chapatis. Who ate less?

Solution.

Total chapatis = 8

Rohit eats = 4 or [latex s=1]\frac { 1 }{ 2 } [/latex] part

∴ Fractlon= [latex s=1]\frac { 1 }{ 2 } [/latex] or [latex]\frac { 2\times 1 }{ 2\times 2 } [/latex] = [latex s=1]\frac { 2 }{ 4 } [/latex]

Rohini eats = [latex s=1]\frac { 1 }{ 4 } [/latex] part

∴ Fraction = [latex s=1]\frac { 1 }{ 4 } [/latex]

∵ In both unit fractions [latex s=1]\frac { 1 }{ 2 } [/latex] and [latex s=1]\frac { 1 }{ 4 } [/latex], fractions with denominator 2 will be greater and fraction with denominator 4 will be smaller.

Thus, Rohini ate less.
