(ii) You must have observed that the card of a steel hawker suddenly starts catching speed on a slope, to slow down the speed of the cart the hawker has to pull the cart from behind.
Conclusion : It is clear from both these situations that on applying force in the opposite direction of motion of an object its speed decreases.

Conclusion : It is clear that friction depends on the surface in contact, if the surface is smooth, then the force of friction will be less where as if the surface is rough, then the force of friction will be more.
