Even today, in certain rural areas, barbers, washermen, potters, blacksmiths, obtain food grains and other goods in exchange of their goods and services from upper caste households. However, barter exchange system has almost ended at present time.

Bazaar is that place where the shopkeepers (sellers) and the customers (buyers) gather and obtain goods of their necessity through exchange. The following forms of bazaars are most prominent:
- Shops in the Neighborhood : These are those shops which provide things of daily need to the customers in the villages at small level. They have no time or rule. These are available to all and serve as a medium of
providing immediate services. - Weekly Bazaar : These bazaars are held for one or two particular days in a week. There venue is fixed. Goods of daily needs are available in these markets at a comparatively cheaper price.
- Shopping Complexes and Malls : Facilities of these types of shopping complexes and malls are available in the cities. Shops selling various types of goods are found under a single roof in shopping complexes. Multistorey air conditioned shopping complexes are found in big cities. Different types of goods are available on different storeys there.
- Special Bazaars : These bazaars are established to sell a particular goods only.
For example – cloth market, iron market, grain market, vegetable market, etc.

Answer:
The system of fulfilling the need by giving or taking goods in exchange of other goods is known as barter exchange system. This was the initial stage of exchange at that time when the requirements of the people were limited.

We obtain goods of daily necessities from the shops in our village or colony. Weekly bazaars are also important with regional point of view.
