(a) 26

(b) 25

(c) 28

(d) 30

Question 3

The mode of observation 4, 6, 6, 6, 8, 8, 8, 8, 9 is :

(a) 4

(b) 6

(c) 8

(d) 9

Question 4

Median of 24, 36, 46, 17, 18, 25, 35 is :

(a) 24

(b) 25

(c) 35

(d) 10

Question 5

The median of (RBSESolutions.com) observation 2,3, 4,7,5 and 1 Median is :

(a) 4.5

(b) 6.5

(c) 9.5

(d) 3.5

Answer:

1. (c), 2. (a), 3. (c), 4. (b), 5. (d)

**Fill in the blanks**

(i) Airthmatic mean (M) = …………….

(ii) Marks of four subjects are 20, 40, 50, 80 then mean will be = …………….

(iii) The Arithmatic mean is the ………. value of observations.

Answer:

(i) [latex]\frac { \Sigma fx }{ n }[/latex],

(ii) 47.5,

(iii) representive.

**True/False**

(i) Mode is always (RBSESolutions.com) a number from observations.

(ii) Mean is a number from the given observation.

(iii) Median is a number from the observations.

(iv) Mean of 6, 4, 3, 8, 9, 12, 13, 9 in 9.

Answer:

(i) True,

(ii) False,

(iii) True,

(iv) False.

**Very Short/Short Answer Type Question**

Question 1

In mathematics exam 15 students has obtained following (RBSESolutions.com) marks out of 25 marks 19, 25, 23,20, 9, 20,15,10, 5,16,25, 20,24,12,20. Find out the mode and median of following observation. Are these same ?

Solution:

Arranging the marks in ascending order

5, 9, 10, 12, 15, 16, 19, 20, 20, 20,20, 23, 24, 25, 25

It is clear that 20 occurs more times

∴ Mode = 20

Here N = 15 which is odd

∴ Median = [latex]{ \left( \frac { n+1 }{ 2 } \right) }^{ th }[/latex] term

= ([latex]\frac { 15+1 }{ 2 }[/latex] ) = 8^{th} term = 20

Yes, mode and median are same,

Question 2

In a cricket match number (RBSESolutions.com) of runs scored by players are as follows :

6, 15, 120, 50, 100, 80, 10, 15, 8, 10, 15

Find the mean, mode and median of above observations.

Solution:

Now arranging the runs (RBSESolutions.com) in ascending order

6, 8, 10, 10, 15, 15, 15, 50, 80, 100, 120

Here 15 occurs more times

∴ Mode = 15

Number of observations (N) is odd

N= 11

Median = [latex]{ \left( \frac { n+1 }{ 2 } \right) }^{ th }[/latex] term

= [latex]{ \left( \frac { 11+1 }{ 2 } \right) }^{ th }[/latex]

= [latex]\frac { 12 }{ 2 }[/latex] = 6^{th} term

= 15.

So mean, median and mode are equal.

Question 3

In a city the rain took place in 7 days are (RBSESolutions.com) as follows

(i) Find the range of above observations.

(ii) Find the mean of rain in the week.

(iii) How many days rain is below average?

Solution:

(i) Arranging the rain in (RBSESolutions.com) ascending order

0.0, 0.0, 1.0, 2.1, 5.5, 12.2, 20.5

Range = 20.5 – 0.0 = 20.5

(ii) In 7 days total rain

= 0.0 + 0.0 + 1.0 + 2.1 + 5.5 + 12.2 + 20.5

= 41.3

Mean = [latex]\frac { 41.3 }{ 7 }[/latex] = 5.9

(iii) 5 day rain is below average.

Question 4

Find the mean of first 5 whole numbers.

Solution:

First 5 whole number are 0, 1, 2, 3 and 4.

Mean = [latex]\frac { 0+1+2+3+4 }{ 5 }[/latex] = [latex]\frac { 10 }{ 2 }[/latex] = 5

Question 5

A cricket player scored following (RBSESolutions.com) runs in 8 innings 58, 76, 40,35, 46, 50, 0, 100. Find the mean score or runs.

Solution:

Total score = 58 + 76 + 40 + 35 + 46 + 50 + 0 + 100 = 405

No. of observations = 8

Mean = [latex]\frac { 405 }{ 8 }[/latex] = 50.62

Question 6

School basket ball team obtained following numbers in 10 matches 10, 12, 8, 9, 11, 19, 13, 10, 20, 22. Find out the median of numbers.

Solution:

Arranging the numbers in ascending order 8, 9, 10, 10,11, 12, 13, 19, 20, 22

n = 10, which is even

**Long Answer Type Questions**

Question 1

The given bar graph shows the survey of (RBSESolutions.com) various companies for checking the water of watches out of which every company has promise that their watches are water proof and after checking following observations are receive.

(a) Can make a fraction of water leakage watches and total checked watches for every company.

(b) On the basis of these observations can you tell that which company watches are better.

Solution:

(a) Ratio of leakage watches and total checked watches

So the company B has better watches [latex]\frac { 10 }{ 40 }[/latex]

Question 2

Years 1995, 1996,1997 and 1998 english and Hindi books (RBSESolutions.com) selling is given below :

Draw a double bar graph and answer the following questions :

(a) In which year both languages books selling difference was minimum.

(b) Can you say that English book demand is increasing rapidily and explain the meaning of

Solution:

Double Bar Graph

Scale: 1cm = 100 books

(a) In the year of 1998 the books selling (RBSESolutions.com) differed is minimum.

(b) Yes we can say that English books demand is increasing rapidily because bar graph of English is more height.

Question 3

Observe the survey of a colony and think on it

(i) Draw a double bar graph by taking appropriate scale and conclusion you have from this bar graph :

(ii) Which game is more favourable?

(iii) Whether seeing of (RBSESolutions.com) games are liked or participation in games is liked.

Solution:

(i)

From this we conclude that mostly people likes cricket and jumping is liked by very less people.

(ii) Cricket is (RBSESolutions.com) most favourite game

(iii) Seeing is mostly liked instead of participation.
