Question 1.
Mohan purchases some mattresses for Rs. 7250. After some time he sold them for Rs. 6090. Find out loss percentage.
Solution:
Cost price = Rs 7,250
Selling price = Rs 6,090
∴ Loss = Cost price – Selling price
= 7,250 – 6,090
= Rs 1,160
∵ Loss(RBSESolutions.com)on Rs 7,250 = 1,160
∴ Loss on Rs 1 = Rs \(\frac { 1160 }{ 7250 }\)
∴ Loss on Rs 100 = Rs \(\frac { 1160 }{ 7250 }\) x 100
= Rs 16
Hence, % loss of Mohan = 16%
Question 2.
Due to increase in salary of Ajit Singh by 12% new salary becomes Rs. 25760. Find his previous salary.
Solution:
Let Rs x be the previous salary.
Percentage increase = 12%
⇒ x = 23,000
Hence, the previous salary was Rs 23,000.
Question 3.
Manjeet mark up price on a pump by increasing 40%. If he wishes to sell it after providing subsidy of 40% then find out profit or loss percentage.
Solution:
Let Rs x be the cost price of pump set.
∴ Marked price = x + 40% of x
= 16%
Hence, loss percentage is 16%.
Question 4.
Cost of a moped is t 54,000. Now price increased by 14%, then tell the price to be paid for moped.
Solution:
Price of Moped = Rs 54,000

Increase = 14% of 54,000
= 54000 x \(\frac { 14 }{ 100 }\)
= Rs 7650
∴ New cost of Moped = 54,000 + 7,560
= Rs 61,560

A businessman purchased goods for Rs. 14000. He paid Rs. 350 as auto rent and Rs. 150 as wages. For earning 5% profit, at what price he should sell goods.
Solution:

Transportation = Rs 350
Labor = Rs 150
∴ Total cost price of products
= 14,000 + 350 + 150
= Rs 14,500
Profit % = 5%
∴ Profit = 5% of 14,500
= 14,500 x \(\frac { 5 }{ 100 }\)
= Rs 725
∴ Selling Price = Total Cost Price + Profit
= 14,500 + 725
= Rs 15,225
Hence, he will sell his products for Rs 15,225.
Question 6.
A furniture seller sold two dressing tables at the rate of Rs. 7200. Out of them 20% profit obtained on one table and 20% loss on another. How much profit or gain percentage is(RBSESolutions.com)obtained in whole transaction?
Solution
Selling Price of one dressing table = Rs 7,200
Let cost price = Rs x
gain % = 20%
∴Gain = 20% of x
Hence total loss % = 4%, for the two dressing tables.
Question 7.
Manoj paid Rs. 6500 as interest on loan of Rs. 52000 after two years. Find percentage interest paid by Manoj.
Solution
Interest of 2 years = Rs 6,500
= Rs 6.25
Hence, the required of interest is 6.25%.
Question 8.
In what time will principal of Rs. 3200 at rate of 8% become Rs. 3840?
Solution:
Principal(RBSESolutions.com)Amount = Rs 3,200
Amount = Rs 3,840
∴ Simple Interest = Amount – Principal
= 3,840 – 3,200
= Rs 640
= 2.5 years
= 2 years 6 month
Hence, Required Time = 2 years and 6 months.
Question 9.
Bhupendra took loan of Rs. 6300 at rate of 7% for 2 years and 8 months then tell what amount will be paid by him?
Solution
Principal = Rs 6,300
Time = 2 years & 8 months
= 2 years + 8 months
= 2 years + \(\frac { 8 }{ 12 }\) year
= 2 year + \(\frac { 2 }{ 3 }\) year
∴ Amount = Principal + Simple(RBSESolutions.com)Interest
= 6,300 + 1,176
= Rs 7,476
Hence, he will pay Rs 7,476.
