## Rajasthan Board RBSE Class 8 Maths Chapter 3 Powers and Exponents Ex 3.2

Question 1.

Find the value

Solution.

(i) (5^{-1} x 2^{-1}) ÷ 6^{-1}

Question 2.

Solution.

Question 3.

Find the value of x

(i) [latex]{ \left( \frac { 4 }{ 3 } \right) }^{ -4 }\times { \left( \frac { 4 }{ 3 } \right) }^{ -5 }={ \left( \frac { 4 }{ 3 } \right) }^{ -3x }[/latex]

(ii) 7^{x} ÷ 7^{-3} = 7^{5}

(iii) (4)^{2x+1} ÷ 16 = 64

Solution.

Comparing the exponents(RBSESolutions.com)of same bases in both sides

– 9 = – 3x

or, x = [latex]\frac { -9 }{ -3 }[/latex] = 3

(ii) 7^{x} ÷ 7^{-3 }= 7^{5}

7^{x} ÷ 7^{-3} = 7^{5}

or, 7^{x-(-3)} = 7^{5}

or, 7^{x+3} = 7^{5}

Comparing the exponents of same bases in both sides

∴ x ÷ 3 = 5

or, x = 5 – 3 = 2

(iii) (4)^{2x+1} ÷ 16 = 64

(4)^{2x+1} ÷ 16 = 64

or, (4)^{2x+1} ÷ (4)^{2} = 64

or, 4^{2x+1-2 }= 4^{3}

or, 4^{2x-1 }= 4^{3}

Comparing the exponents(RBSESolutions.com)of same bases in both sides

∴ 2x – 1 = 3

or, 2x = 3 + 1 =4

or, [latex]x=\frac { 4 }{ 2 }=2[/latex]

Question 4.

Find the value

Solution.
