“आनंद! अनिता! बच्चों, क्या बात है? तुम लोग कहाँ हो?”
“यहाँ!” हमने एक साथ चिल्लाकर कहा। एक मिनट में ही दरवाज़ा खोल दिया गया।
“आखिर यहाँ क्या हो रहा था, बच्चों?” शर्मा अंकल ने पूछा। आनंद और मैं दोनों ही घबराहट में एक-दूसरे से आगे बढ़कर सब कुछ समझाने लगे। “वह आदमी अब कहाँ है?”

“चलो, पूरे घर की तलाशी लेते हैं-शायद वह अभी भी आसपास ही हो,” डॉ. मोहन ने ऊपर जाते हुए कहा।
बोप्पा कहीं दिखाई नहीं दिया। “तो हो सकता है वह सचमुच भाग गया हो और हम उसे देख नहीं पाए हों,” अंत में श्रीमती शर्मा ने कहा। “इसके अलावा और क्या हुआ होगा, मैं सोच भी नहीं सकती।”
“मेरी टाइम मशीन! वह उसी से होकर गया है!” आनंद अचानक बोल पड़ा, उसकी आँखें चमक रही थीं।
“इस लड़के की कल्पना शक्ति कितनी जबरदस्त है।” श्री शर्मा ने स्नेह से मुस्कुराते हुए कहा।
“अब तुम दोनों बिस्तर पर जाओ। मैं आज रात यहीं रहूँगा, इसलिए अब तुम्हें किसी और घुसपैठिए की चिंता करने की जरूरत नहीं है।”
कहने की ज़रूरत नहीं कि बोप्पा फिर कभी दिखाई नहीं दिया। आनंद का कहना है कि उसकी टाइम मशीन सचमुच काम कर गई थी और बोप्पा अतीत में चला गया। मशीन को बाद में खोलकर अलग कर दिया गया, क्योंकि पापा को लगा कि यह सुरक्षित नहीं है (शायद उन्हें भी हल्का-सा शक था कि यह सच में काम करती है), इसलिए हम इसे दोबारा आज़मा नहीं सके।
जहाँ तक आनंद की बात है, उसे पूरा विश्वास है कि वह एक प्रतिभाशाली व्यक्ति है और उसने एक नई परियोजना शुरू कर दी है-कुछ ऐसा, जिसमें बाहरी अंतरिक्ष के जीवों से संपर्क करने के लिए एक टेलीफोन बनाने की बात है। इसकी कहानी मैं तुम्हें अगली बार सुनाऊँगी।
