Read the following passage and answer the questions:
The medicinal, insecticidal and religious significance of Neem tree is enshrined in mythology. The reference is that when ‘amrit’, the heavenly nectar, was being taken to gods, a few drops fell on it. Since then the tree has assumed such a great position in our life.
The Ayurvedic texts show the efficacy of the tree in almost all sorts of human diseases. The renowned Hindu physician and authority “Susruta” (100AD) has dealt extensively with it. The bark is a tonic, an antipyretic, a cure for nausea. It is an effective cure for skin diseases and Ulcers. The leaf is a known antiseptic. It is extensively used in treating pimples, small pox, jaundice, ulcers, leprosy, rheumatism and worms.
Neem oil contains a compound ‘nimbridin’ which is a powerful remedy for various skin ailments and pyorrhoea. It is also a hair tonic. Its essence is used in toothpastes and beauty aids. The stems serve as toothbrushes, toothpastes and toothpicks.
The sweet-smelling flower extract is an effective cure for indigestion. Its (Neem tree) gum is effective in curing chronic skin infections and leprosy. The insecticidal value of neem is rather very great. A few leaves put into the granary protect it from insects. A layer of neem leaves between the folds keeps silks and woolens moth-free.
Neem is an air purifier and protects people from malaria and cholera. As a standard remedy for bums, neem leaves are soaked in oil and smeared over burnt tissues. The boiled neem water can be used for treatment of skin inflammations.
To restore facial beauty, use an emulsion made of lime juice and coconut milk and add rose petals or jasmine, mix a paste made of neem leaves and turmeric and apply over the affected spots.

The postmaster was a land fellow. He decided to help Lencho by sending him the money. It was not possible for him to send hundred pesos. So he asked for help from his employees. He himself gave some part of his salary and several friends of his were obliged to give something for an act of charity. Thus, he could collect seventy pesos. He himself handed the envelope to Lencho. Hence the postmaster helped Lencho in two ways- firstly by providing him with the money and secondly by keeping his faith in God intact.

South Africa was different from other countries in relation to fulfilling one’s own obligations. Colour discrimination prevailed there. There was colour prejudice, so a man of colour was treated differently. Like any human being, a man of colour also had desires and obligations to his family, parents, wife, community and country. But a man of colour was not allowed to fulfil his duties to his people in South Africa. The person who tried to fulfil his duty to his people was punished and inevitably ripped from his family and his home. He was forced to live apart in twilight of secrecy and rebellion. He was sent to jail.

Anne says that one fourth of the class should not be promoted as it is poor in studies. She further says that the teachers are the most unpredictable creatures on the earth, so nobody knows what they will do and what will happen.

A Fox and a Crane
Once a fox and a crane became fast friends. So, the fox invited the crane to dinner. The crane accepted the invitation and reached the fox’s place at sunset. The fox had prepared soup for his mate. But as we all know that foxes are cunning by nature. He served the soup in flat dishes. So, he himself lapped the craned share with his tongue and enjoyed a lot. But the crane could not enjoy it at all with its long beak and had to get back home hungry. The shrewd fox felt extremely happy.
After a few days, the crane invited the fox to dine with it. The fox reached its place well in time. The crane gave him a warm welcome and served the soup in a jug with a long and narrow neck.
So, the crane enjoyed the soup with great relish using its long beak. The fox’s mouth couldn’t reach the soup through the narrow neck of the jug. He had to return home hungry.
Now he realized that he had been repaid for his rude behaviour with the crane.
Moral : Tit for tat.

The Man, the Boy and the Donkey
A man and his son were once going with their donkey to market. As they were walking along by its side a countryman passed them and said, “You fools, what is a donkey for but to ride upon ?”
So the man put the boy on the donkey. But soon they passed a group of men, one of whom said, “See the lazy youngster, he lets his father walk while he rides.”
So the Man ordered his boy to get off, and got on himself. But they hadn’t gone far when they passed two women, one of whom said to the other, “Shame on that lazy lout to let his poor little son trudge along.”
Well, the man didn’t know what to do, but at last he took his boy up before him on the donkey. By this time they had come to the town, and the passers-by began to jeer and point at them. The man stopped and asked what they were scoffing at. The men said, “Aren’t you ashamed of yourself for overloading the poor donkey of yours and your hulking son?”
The man and boy got off and tried to think what to do. At last they raised the donkey on their shoulders. The donkey fell into a river and drowned.
Moral : “Please all, and you will please none.”
