Solution :
Length of 1 book = length of 2 pencils
∴ length of 3 books = 3 × 2
= 3 times 2
= 2 + 2 + 2 = 6
= length of 6 pencils
Question 14.
A bus has to cover a distance of 15 kilometers. If it has already covered a distance of 8 kilometers, then how much more distance is left to cover?
Solution :
More distance is left to cover
= Total distance – distance already covered
= 15 km – 8 km
= 7 km
Question 15.
The length of a pencil is 15 cm. If it is cut by 3 centimeters, then what will be its remaining length?
Solution :
Remaining length
= Length of the pencil – length of part which is cut-off
= 15 cm – 3 cm
= 12 cm
Question 16.
The length of a paper is 25 cm. If 5 centimeters is cut off from it, then what will be its remaining length?

Remaining length
= Length of paper – length cut-off
= 25 cm-5 cm
= 20 cm
