The distance from Udaipur to Ajmer is 263 kilometres and the distance from Ajmer to Kuchaman is 104 kilometers, so what is the distance between Kuchaman and Udaipur?
Solution:
Distance from Udaipur to Ajmer = 263 kilometres
Distance from Ajmer to Kuchaman = 104 kilometres
Distance between Kuchaman and Udaipur
= 263 + 104 = 367 kilometres

Question 3.
To stich a pant, 1 meter 20 cm cloth is required. Find the length of the remaining cloth after cutting cloth for 15 pants from a lot of 28 m cloth.
Solution:
Cloth required for one pant
= 1 metre 20 centimetre
= 120 centimetre
Cloth required for 15 pants
= 15 × 120 centimetres
= 1800 centimetres
Cloth in one roll = 28 metres = 28 × 100
= 2800 centimetres
Remaining cloth length = 2800-1800
= 1000 centimetres
= 10 × 100 centimetres
= 10 metres

A rope of 28 m length is to be cut into 8 equal pieces. Find the length of each piece.
Solution: Length of Rope = 28 metres
= 28 × 100 centimetres
= 2800 centimetres
Number of pieces = 8
Length of one pieces = 2800 ÷ 8
= 350 centimetres
= 3 metres 50 centimetres

Question 5.
A rope is 3 m long. Rani cuts a piece of 1 m 5 cm from that rope. Write the length of the remaining rope in metres and centimetres.
Solution:
Length of Rope = 3 metres
= 3 × 100 cm
= 300 cm
Part cut from the rope = 1 metre 5 centimetres
= 100 cm.+5 cm.
= 105 cm.
length of remaining rope
= 300-105
= 195 cm
= 1 metre 95 centimetres

Question 6.
The distance between two cities is 185 km. A bus has covered a distance of 95 km. How much distance does the bus have to cover now?
Solution:
Distance between two cities = 185 kilometres
Distance covered by a bus = 95 kilometres Remaining distance = 185 – 95 = 90 kilometres

Question 7.
A tailor has 10 m cloth. He has to stich kurtas for 3 children from it. If 2 m 30 cm cloth is required for one kurta, then how much cloth will be left with the tailor after making all the three kurtas?
Solution:
Cloth required to make one kurta
= 2 metrs 30 centimetres
= 200 cm+30 cm
= 230 centimetres
Cloth required to make 3 kurtas
= 3 × 230
= 690 centimetres
Available cloth = 10 metres
= 10 × 100 centimetres
= 1000 centimetres
Cloth remaining after making 3 kurtas
= 1000 – 690 cm
= 310 cm
= 3 metres 10 centimetres

An earthworm first moves forward 25 mm, then turns right 18 mm and then moves forward 50 mm. What is the distance covered by the earthworm?
Solution:
Distance covered by the earthworm
= (25 + 18 + 50) millimetres
= 93 millimetres

Question 9.
A runner is running on a 600 metre track. If he takes 3 complete rounds of the track, then how many km will he run?
Solution:
Distance covered by the runner in one lap
= 600 metres
Distance covered by the runner in 3 laps
= 3 × 600 = 1800 metres
= (1000 + 800) metres
= 1 kilometres 800 metres

Jai bought two bolts of curtain cloth from a fabric store. The first bolt had 23 metres 60 centimetres of cloth and the second bolt had 27 metres 55 centimetres of cloth. Tell how much curtain cloth Jai bought in total?

= (7 × 100) cm.+30 cm.
= 700 cm.+30 cm.
= 730 centimetres

Therefore, the length of 7 such rugs will be
= 730 × 7 cm.
= 5110 cm.
= 51 metres 10 centimetres

Question 4.
From a roll of ribbon 20 metres 25 centimetres long, 9 pieces of ribbon are to be cut equally. Tell what will be the length of each piece?
Solution:
Total length of the roll of ribbon
= 20 metres 25 centimetres
= (20 × 100) cm + 25 cm.
= 2000 cm + 25 cm.
=2025 cm.
Length of each piece = 2025 ÷ 9 cm.
= 225 cm.
Therefore, the length of each piece is 225 centimetres.
