Aarti’s mother wants to get lace stitched around her dupatta. The length of the dupatta is 2 meters and the width is 1 meter.
(i) How much lace will Aarti buy from the shopkeeper for the dupatta? ______
Solution :
Perimeter of dupatta
= 2(length + breadth)
= 2(2 meter +1 meter)
= 2 × 3 meter
= 6 meter
Hence, Aarti will buy 6 meter long lace for dupatta.
(ii) The shopkeeper said that the lace is 80 rupees per meter. Aarti buys half a meter extra. Tell how much money will she pay to the shopkeeper? ______
Solution :
Aarti will have to pay for 6 meter
= 80 × 6=₹ 480
For half meter more lace
= 80 × \(\frac{1}{2}\) = ₹ 40
Aarti will give a sum of = ₹ 480 + ₹ 40 = ₹ 520 to shopkeeper.
