Write the Ekadhikena Purvena of the following numbers :

Solution :

Page 67
Now it’s your turn
(i)

Solution :

Steps :
1. Sum of unit digits : 8 + 6 = 14. The sum is greater than 10
2. Therefore, we write 4 in the sum and make the Ekadhikena purvena of digit 6 as \(\dot{5}\).
3. Sum of tens digits : 6 + \(\dot{5}\) = 6 + 6 = 12. Therefore, write 2 in the sum and make the Ekadhikena purvena of 5 as \(\dot{3}\).
4. Sum of hundreds digit : 2 + \(\dot{3}\) = 2 + 4 = 6. Write 6.
(ii)

Solution :

Steps :
1. Sum of unit digits : 5 + 4 + 8 = 17
2. Sum is greater than 10, therefore we write 7 in the sum and make the ekadhikena purvena of digit 8 as 5.
3. Sum of tens digit : 7 + 7 = 14 which is more than 10.
Therefore make the ekadhika purvena of 7 as \(\dot{2}\).
Now 4 + \(\dot{5}\) = 4 + 6 = 10.
So, write 0 in the sum and make ekadhikena purvena of 5 as \(\dot{3}\).
4. Sum of hundreds digits : 1 + \(\dot{2}\) + \(\dot{3}\) = 1 + 3 + 4 = 8. Write 8.
(iii)

Solution :

Steps :
1. Sum of unit digits : 7 + 4 + 8 = 19
2. Sum is greater than 10. Therefore write 9 in the sum and place the ekadhikena sign on the digit 2 (the digit before 8).
3. Sum of tens digits : 7 + 7 + \(\dot{2}\) = 17.
Therefore write 7 in the sum and place the ekadhikena sign on the digit 3 (the digit before 2)
4. Sum of hundreds digits : 4 + 2 + \(\dot{3}\) = 4 + 2 + 4 = 10. Write 10.
(iv)

Solution :

Steps :
1. Sum of unit digits : 5 + 5 + 8 = 18
2. The sum is greater than 10, therefore write 8 in the sum and place the ekadhikena sign on digit 5 (the digit before 8).
3. Sum of tens digits : 7 + 6 + \(\dot{5}\) = 19.
Therefore write 9 in the sum and place the ekadhikena sign on digit 3 (the digit before 5).
4. Sum of hundreds digits : 3 + 2 + \(\dot{3}\) = 3 + 2 + 4 = 9. Write 9.

2. Make Ekanyunena purvena of 5 as 4.
3. Similarly 5 cannot be subtracted from 4 (i.e. 3) so add Param Mitra Ank of 5 (which is 5) to 4. (3 + 5 = 8)
4. Make Ekanyunena purvena of 4 as 9.
5. Subtract 2 from 9 (i.e. 8) and write 6.
(iv)

Solution :

Steps :
1. 9 cannot be subtracted from 2, so add the Param Mitra Ank of 9 (which is 1) to 2. (2 + 1 = 3)
2. Make Ekanyunena purvena of 2 as 1.
3. Similarly 9 cannot be subtracted from 1 (i.e. 0), so add the Param Mitra Ank of 9 (which is 1) to 0. (0 + 1 = 1)
