In Dholakpur village, Sports competitions were organized. The first competition was a race in which a rabbit, a cat and a mouse took part. As soon as the race started, rabbit took 44 jumps, cat took 3-3 jumps and mouse took 2-2 jumps and started running. In this race, the rabbit ran fast and reached the destination first and got the first position. The cat got the second position and the mouse got the last position.

How many jumps will the rabbit have to make to reach 32?
Solution :
To reach 32, the rabbit had to make 32 ÷ 4 = 8 jumps.

Question 3.
Who among the three jumped on 27?
Solution :
The cat (3, 6, 9, 12, 15, 18, 21, 24, 27)

Question 4.
On which numbers did the rabbit jump?
4, 8, 12,, ……………………………
Solution :
4, 8, 12, 16, 20, 24, 28, 32, 36, 40,  44, 48, 52, 56, 60.

Question 5.
How many more jumps did the cat take than the rabbit to finish the race?
Solution :
Jumps made by the rabbit = 60 ÷ 4 = 15
Jumps made by the cat = 60 ÷ 3 = 20
Therefore, the cat made 20 – 15 = 5 more jumps than the rabbit.
The numbers on which the mouse jumped are multiples of 2. Similarly, the cat jumped on numbers that are multiples of 3.

Common factors of 18 and 24 = 1,2,3,6
Largest common factor = 6

Three vessels contain 20 liters, 40

Find the largest measure that can completely measure the milk in all three vessels.

Factors of 20 = 1,2,4,5,10,20

Therefore, common factors of 20, 40 and 60 = 1,2,4,5,10,20

Find the greatest common factor of 15, 27 and 36.

Common factors of 15, 27 and 36 = 1,3
Therefore, the greatest common factor of 15,27 and 36 = 3

Question 2.
Two milk cans contain 20 and 30 liters of milk respectively. What will be the measure of the largest vessel that can completely measure both cans?
Solution :
Factors of 20 = 1,2,4,5,10,20
Similarly, factors of 30 = 1,2,3,5,6,10, 15, 30
The greatest common factor among these two factors = 10
Therefore, the measure of the largest vessel will be 10 liters. Which can completely measure both cans.
