The lotus flowers in a lake double every day. If the lake is completely filled on the 20th day. Then tell on which day was the lake half-filled?
Solution :
The lake is filling with flowers at double the rate everyday. That means, if it is completely full on the 20th day. It must have been half-full on the 19th day. Therefore, the lake will be half-full on the 19th day.
Question 2.
A man has 3 bags. Each bag contains 3 small bags. Each small bag contains 3 small boxes and each box contains 3 coins. So, how many coins are there in total?
Solution :
In each bag = 3 small bags
In each small bag = 3 boxes
In each box = 3 coins
So, 3 bags × 3 small bags = 9 small bags
9 small bags × 3 boxes = 27 boxes
27 boxes × 3 coins = 81 coins
Therefore, there will be a total of 81 coins.

Solution :
1 minute = 90 rotations
1 hour = 60 minutes
So, 90 × 60 = 5400 rotations

A woman has 4 cupboards. Each cupboard has 5 racks. Each rack has 2 boxes, and each box has 10 books. So, how many books does the woman have?
Solution :
4 cupboards × 5 racks = 20 racks
20 racks × 2 boxes = 40 boxes
40 boxes × 10 books = 400 books.

Question 1.
One day, a lion in the jungle invited all the animals to a party. There were a total of 6 dining tables arranged. On each table, there were 5 large baskets. In each basket there were 4 plates, and on each plate, there were 6 apples. Now tell :
(i) How many apples were there in total at the forest party?
Answer:
6 tables × 5 baskets = 230 baskets
30 baskets × 4 plates = 120 plates
120 plates × 6 apples = 720 apples
(ii) If 60 animals come to the party, how many apples did each animal get?
Answer:
Total apples = 720
60 animals = 720 ÷ 60
= 12 apples per animal
