  1. Students must first write their Roll No. on the Question Paper compulsorily.

  3. Marks of each question is written in front of it.
  4. The answer to each question must be written in the space provided for it.

Understanding of the Shape and Space (Marks-21)

Question 1.
An angle of 40° is called : (1)
(a) obtuse angle
(b) straight angle
(c) right angle
(d) acute angle
Answer:
(d) acute angle

Question 2.
From the square shown in Figure-1 below, 8 squares of 1 x 1 cm are cut out as shown in Figure-2. Then find the perimeter of the new figure. 3 + 3 = 6

Answer:
First, the perimeter of the square in figure-1
= 4 × side
= 4 × 5 cm
= 20 cm
When 8 square of 1 cm are cut from the square in figure-1 as per figure-2. The perimeter of the remaining shape, figure-2 is
= (20 – 1 × 8 + 3 x 8) cm
= (20 – 8 + 24) cm
= (20 + 16) cm
= 36 cm

Question 3.
Write the number of faces, edges and vertices of the following three-dimensional figures: 3 × 2 = 6

Question 4.
Solve the following questions 4 × 2 = 8
(i) The length of a farmer’s field is 85 m and the width is 60 m. What will be the total length of the fencing around the field?
Answer:
(i) Length of the field = 85 m
Width of the field = 60 m
Field is rectangle. Length of facing is equal to perimeter.
Perimeter of the field = 2 × (length + width)
= 2 × (85 + 60) meter
= 2 × 145 meter
= 290 meter

(ii) There is a square room in Ramesh’s house whose side is 5 meters long, so what will be the perimeter and area of this room?
Answer:
Side length of square room = 5 meter Perimeter of the square room = 4 × 5 meter = 20 meter
Area of the room = side x side
= (5 × 5) square meter
= 25 sqaure meter

(iii) A person cycles 8 km every day to go to work and comes back. How many kilometers does he cycle in 5 days?
Answer:
(iii) Total distance = 8 km × 2 = 16 km per day
16 km per day × 5 days = 80 k

(iv) A person swims 200 meter in a pool and then walks 100 meter around it. What is the total distance covered?
Answer:
Total distance
= 200 meter + 100 meter
= 300 meter

4. 6 = 6 – 1 = 5, we subtract 2 from 5 and get 3.

(i) If 375 liters of water can be fdled in one tank, then how much water can be filled in 26 such tanks? 3 x 2 = 6
Answer:
Water in one tank = 375 liters
Quantity of water in 26 tanks = 375 x 26

Solve the following questions 4 × 2 = 8
(i) What will be the total time of 1 hour 40 minutes and 3 hours 25 minutes?
Answer:
1 hour 40 minutes + 3 hours 25 minutes
= 4 hours 65 minutes
= 4 hours + 60 minutes + 5 minutes
= 5 hours 5 minutes

(ii) What is the total time of 2 hours 30 minutes and 4 hours 15 minutes?
Answer:
2 hours 30 minutes + 4 hours 15 minutes
= 6 hours 45 minutes

(iii) What will be the total hours and minutes if we add 2 hours 55 minutes and 1 hour 35 minutes?
Answer:
2 hours 55 minutes + 1 hour 35 minutes = 3 hours 90 minutes
= 3 hours + 60 minutes + 30 minutes
= 3 hours + 1 hour + 30 minutes
= 4 hours 30 minutes

(iv) What is the total time of 3 hours 30 minutes and 1 hour 10 minutes?
Answer:
3 hours 30 minutes + 1 hour 10 minutes = 4 hours 40 minutes
