Solution:

Answer :
(i) Radhika bought 15 copies for Rs 1230. What is the cost of one copy?
Solution :
(i) The cost of 15 notebooks
= Rs. 1230
Therefore, the cost of 1 notebook
= Rs. (1230 ÷ 15)
= Rs. 82

(ii) A farmer has 984 oranges. How many dozen oranges will he have?
Solution:
The farmer has a total of oranges = 984 Therefore, dozens of oranges
= 984 ÷ 12 = 82 dozens
∵ 1 Dozen =12 Oranges

Thus, the farmer has 82 dozen of oranges.
(iii) A student studied for a total of 1460 minutes in 20 days. How many minutes did he study every day?
Solution:
The student studied a total of minutes in 20 days = 1460 minutes
Therefore, daily study = 1460 ÷ 20 minutes = 73 minutes

(iv) Saurabh walked for a total of 9360 steps in 12 days. How many steps did he walk on an average every day?
Solution:
Saurabh walks a total of steps in 12 days = 9360
Therefore, the average steps walked per day
= 9360 ÷ 12 = 780 steps

(v) 875 toffees are to be packed in small packets. If one packet contains 25 toffees, how many packets will be made?

Seema had 20 mangoes. She gave \(\frac{1}{5}\) mangoes to her friends. How many mangoes did Seema give to her friends?
Solution :
Seema had a total of mangoes =20
Gave to friends = \(\frac{1}{5}\) mangoes
= \(\frac{1}{5}\) × 20 = 4 mangoes
Therefore, Seema gave 4 mangoes to her friends.
Question 6.
Ramesh bought 2 dozen apples. \(\frac{1}{3}\) of these apples got rotten. How many apples got rotten?
Solution :
Ramesh bought apples = 2 dozen
= 2 × 12 = 24 apples
Apples rotted = \(\frac{1}{3}\)
= 24 × \(\frac{1}{3}\) = 8 apples
Therefore, 8 apples rotted out of 2 dozen apples.
Question 7.
Arya had 36 biscuits. She gave \(\frac{1}{6}\) biscuits to her brother. How many biscuits did Arya gave to her brother?
Solution :
Arya had a total of biscuits = 36
Given to brother = \(\frac{1}{6}\)
= 36 × \(\frac{1}{6}\)
= 6 Biscuits

There are 24 oranges in a bag. Rekha ate half of them. How many oranges are left now?
Solution :
Total oranges in the bag = 24
Rekha ate =24 × \(\frac{1}{2}\)
= 12 oranges
Remaining oranges = 24 – 12
= 12 oranges
Therefore, 12 oranges are left now.
