Some Solved Examples of Speech
Write a short speech in about 150-200 words on ‘Be Indian, Buy Indian,’ to be delivered in the meeting of Students Union.
Respected President and my dear friends, I am keenly sensible to the great honour for our country.
The slogan ‘Be Indian, Buy Indian’ reflects the feelings of nationality. As we are born and brought up in India, we should cherish this feeling in our hearts. Most of the people, though born and brought up in India, don’t exhibit this trait in their conduct and character which is a very shameful mindset. It is the first and foremost duty of an Indian to have this feeling. It shows our belongingness to our country. There is a general craze among well off Indians to buy foreign goods which is an aping habit. They should buy things made and produced in India. You will be surprised to know that Indian products are the most reliable in the world. There are so many companies in the world that get their products manufactured in India and then take it to their own country. By purchasing Indian products, we are indirectly supporting the economy of our country. With thanks, I want to say that every true Indian should try to prove the worth of the slogan “Be Indian, Buy Indian’.
Write a short speech in about 150-200 words on “The Challenges Confronting Free India,” to be delivered on the occasion of Independence Day function.
Respected Principal, teachers and my dear friends, we have assembled today to celebrate Independence Day. But there are many challenges before free India.
The major ones of them are-illiteracy, poverty, communalism, casteism, provincialism, regionalism, which pose a great threat to our peace and national unity. These internal strifes are the biggest hurdles in our progress. In order to bring peace, progress, prosperity and national unity, we have to remove all these hurdles. Every effort should be made to create emotional integration or a sense of oneness among the people of the country. Illiteracy is also a great hurdle, but the Indian Government and State Governments have introduced the Right to Education Act for the children between the age of 6 to 14. Now it is predicted that there will nobody left to be called an illiterate. The poverty of India is solved by the National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (NREGA). It has raised per-capita income of the poor Indians were: Besides, the internal challenges and problems in our country, we have external challenges to overpower from our cross-border neighbours.
Whatever the challenges may be – the internal or the external, we will have to overpower them with patience and determination. Thanks.
Write a short speech in about 150-200 words on “Use of Mobile Phones for Students” to be delivered at “Parents-Teachers Committee” meeting.
Respected Principal, my colleagues and invited guardians, today we can see a mobile in the hands of every student.
We know that mobile phone is a miracle in the field of communication. A small box can store so much information. It is of great use for businessmen and professionals. They can remain informed everywhere, every time. But for students, it is just a stupid toy which they often misuse to such an extent that they are spoiling their careers and their lives.
It is a great hindrance to their concentration in their studies. Now we can use the internet on it and through 3G connection, we can enjoy video calling also. All these things are diverting their attention from the study which is against their main aim. M.M.S. scandals at schools and colleges have become common nowadays. Many students have spoilt their lives with this toy. There are so many mobile operators that offer special tariff plan for the students.
Many times, they can talk unlimited from 11.00 p.m. to 8.00 a.m. Such kind of offers are against the students’ interests. They waste their valuable time in chatting with their friends. In my opinion, child crime is on the rise, so you should not give mobiles to your school and college going children. For the benefit of their future, the school has decided to ban the use of mobiles in our campus. I thank you all for your co-operation.
You are a Physical education teacher. Write a short speech in 150-200 words discouraging ‘Bad Habits’ to be delivered at the Prayer Assembly of the school.
Dear students, it is very easy to acquire bad habits, such as eating too many sweets, smoking or drinking. The more we do a thing, the more we tend to like doing it. If we do not continue doing it, we feel unhappy. One of the most widely spread of bad habits is the use of tobacco and alcohol. Studies show they are very harmful to our health and studies. It is extremely difficult to get rid of the habit, once it is formed.
The regular use of alcohol and tobacco even in small quantities tend to cause problems in many ways. They affect the liver, weaken the memory and lessen the general energy of the body. Some other bad habits are the need to win at all costs and in all situations, to under evaluate others and impose our standards on them. To give oneself such type of superiority makes us arrogant. We become vain and indulge in self-praise. Boastfulness is the cause of envy, hatred and enmity.
Next week your school is going to celebrate ‘Children’s Day’. Prepare a speech on” Advantage of Early Rising’, in 150-200 words.
Dear friends, today I am going to say something on the Advantage of Early Rising.
“Early to bed and early to rise makes a man healthy, wealthy and wise”. Even in this modern world of hurry and worry, this saying has not lost its relevance. Early rising is good for health and there can be no doubt about it. In the Indian tradition, we speak of the ‘Brahma Muhurta’ or early dawn which is the most auspicious time for one to rise and meditate. “The great advantage of early rising is the good start it gives us to our day’s work. In the early morning, the mind is fresh and there is minimum or other disturbances.
So the work done at that time is generally well done. The early riser also finds time to take some exercise in the fresh morning air and this exercise supplies him with a fund of energy that will last until the evening. By beginning so early, one knows that one has plenty of time to complete all the work. All his work being finished in good time, he has a long interval of rest in the evening before he goes to bed. Thus, early rising is advantageous in many ways. The modern trend is to sit up late and get up late. But this is not a healthy habit. Thanks.
Prepare a speech on the “Gradual Decline of Ground Water Level in 150-200 words.
Dear friends, water is necessary for our survival. If there is no water, our life’s activities will come to a standstill and we will have to face many problems. Due to deforestation, there have been scanty rains. And we have little water in the wells, tanks and rivers, etc. Whatever water there has been in the natural resources is evaporating and drying up everyday. In India, we have rainy season and we get water in this season. Whatever water we get in this season is to be used for the rest of the year. If we get scanty rain, our ponds, rivers, wells and reservoirs will remain dry. We won’t get enough water for the remaining year. Consequently, the water level is declining day, by day which is a matter of great concern for all.
Due to the shortage of water and the gradual decline of the underground water level, we won’t get sufficient water for irrigation. The tubewells and handpumps will not be able to supply sufficient water. There are some steps which we can take up to raise the level of groundwater. We can build underground tanks and store the water collected from our roof during the rains. We can recharge our wells and tubewells by making percolation tank near them. As the water level is going down; we should use water carefully. Thank you for giving a good listening.
Write a short speech in 150-200 words on the “Importance of Punctuality” to be delivered at the children’s morning assembly. You are the head-girl/boy of the School.
Respected teachers and dear school mates! Today I shall talk about the importance of punctuality in human life.
Punctuality means to complete doing a thing at the exact time. For instance, you see a long line of late comers everyday. In fact, they have no apology for coming late. It is the result of their carelessness. You must have heard the story of ‘Late Latief. He could never reach the school in time. He always missed the train. He earned nothing in life but the title ‘Late Latief.’
An unpunctual boy can never be a successful man. There are occasions when there is hair breadth distance between life and death. If a surgeon is not quick and punctual, his patients may suffer a lot.
Punctuality in every activity ensures a successful life. Thank you.
Write a short speech in 150-200 words on “The Aim of My Life’ to be delivered on the farewell party of your class.
Dear friends, we are thankful to you for giving us such a grand farewell party. I have come here to tell you about the aim of my life.
Everybody has some aim in life; and then he works to achieve it. Aim or setting goal is important for every person because without aim man is directionless. Aim in life gives meaning to life. It is very important that an aim is formulated and efforts are sincerely made to achieve that aim. You will have to be bold enough to make an aim. I have also an aim in my life. I want to become a doctor. This is undoubtedly a noble profession. The nursing of the sick is a vocation as well as the service of society. A doctor gets ample opportunities to lessen the sufferings of people. At the same time, he can earn enough to live happily. I don’t want to be a lawyer or a clerk. A lawyer seldom speaks the truth. A clerk’s life is hellish. By becoming a doctor I can serve well the society as well as myself. I won’t accept any money from the poor patients. I will consider myself well rewarded by treating them. Hope all of you will put a noble aim before you. May God bless you in achieving your aim. Thanks.
You are Surabhi, a student of class XII. You have to deliver a short speech in the morning assembly. Prepare a short speech on ‘The Importance of English.’ Speech should be in 150-200 words.
Respected teachers and dear friends! Today, I shall express my views on the importance of English.
English is spoken all over the world. India is a land of diversity. Different people speak different languages. English is a link language for them. With the invention of internet, no country can depend only on its local language. We can communicate with other countries only when we know English. To understand medicine, technology and trade we must know English language because it is an international language.
Without knowing English, no country can progress. We are champions in information technology only because we have a good knowledge of English. It has a rich literature and student can enjoy it after learning it. Today, when the whole world is being computerised, we cannot stick to the old idea of not accepting a foreign language. Today, more than 80% I.A.S. officers are present in India who got their education in English medium schools. English is the language of the constitution, the Supreme Court, the High Courts and many official departments. English is deeply rooted in the soil of India. We have to accept this international language which is important to lead us to the path of progress. Thanks for listening to me.
You have to deliver a speech at a programme of ‘World Environment Day.’ Write a short speech in 150-200 words on the ‘Common Bond between Plants and Animals.
Respected President, teachers and dear friends, the plants and animals are integral part of a forest. From the beginning of life, the plant kingdom and the animal kingdom have lived together to form the biotic environment or biosphere. They give charm and beauty to the forests. The plants and animals are interdependent in nature. If we destroy one, the other will be destroyed automatically. The plants and trees provide animals with shade and shelter for living. The trees cause rains and thus provide water to the animals.
On the one hand, trees exhale oxygen in the atmosphere which is inhaled by animals and other living beings for their survival. On the other hand, animals exhale carbon dioxide which is inhaled by trees and plants. Also, the all living beings’ waste viz urine and dung form a good manure which is very necessary for the growth of plants. Thus, the bonds between the trees and animals are permanent and beneficial to each other. Thanks to all.
You are Prachi of class XII. You have to speak in favour of City Life. Write a short speech in 150-200 words on ‘Merits of City Life.’
Hon’ble judges; I will speak in the favour of city life. City life has many advantages. In a city, houses are built in a planned way. It has wide roads. Every city has electricity. All sorts of shops are there. Anything can be bought or sold easily. All sorts of transport facilities are available here. A city has good hospitals, a number of schools and colleges where one can get education. There are courts. Good doctors live in a city. In a city, water is supplied regularly. Every city has parks for walking. Poor people support themselves by doing some business or the other. Even a hawker earns enough to feed his family. There are public libraries where one can read books and magazines without spending money. There are sufficient number of policemen to ensure law and order.
In addition, in a big city you can enjoy the best service and entertainment. Life in a city is quite luxurious. You can enjoy new movies or games. Many people argue that living in a big city makes them tired with noise and rush. They like the slow pace of life in the countryside. But in my view, you can’t live there for a long time because the youth always like to enjoy new things and want to have more money, which is difficult in a countryside. Thanks.
Write a speech in 150-200 words on Mahatma Gandhi to be delivered on Gandhi Jayanti.

In 1942, he started Quit India Movement. He was sent to jail several times. His movements were based on truth and non-violence. He believed in universal brotherhood and love. He was of the opinion that if we have conflict with Englishmen, let us not hate them because both Englishmen and Indians are offsprings of the same divinity. At last, India was freed on August 15,1947.
On January 30, 1948, he was shot dead by Nathuram Godse.
You are the head boy of your class. Today, your school is going to organize ‘A Science Exhibition’. Prepare a speech on “Science: A Boon or a Bane’in 150-200 words.
Hon’ble Chief guest, Minister of the state for education, respected Principal, all the teachers and dear friends, a very good morning to all of you. On this occasion, I want to tell you how science is a boon or a bane for us.
Science has caused a revolution in the life of man. Science has produced such wonderful things that we can’t imagine. With the help of the satellite, man has landed on the moon. With the help of the radio and television, we can know and watch every happening in any part of the world. With the help of phone and mobile phone, we can contact anybody, anywhere and anytime. With the advance of medical science, man has got victory over several fatal diseases. And lastly, the computer that is the modern wonder has made impossible things possible for us.
Thus, science has proved to be a boon to us. But science is boon as well as bane. If we use science in right manner, it is a boon. But nowadays due to excessive industrialization which is boon of science, we have polluted our environment so much that we are now facing the threat of global warming. Depletion of ozone layer is also due to science. Due to rapid growth without caring about environment, we have created big threats for the human race. Thanks a lot.
Write a speech in 150-200 words on “The place of mother in the family” to be delivered on the occasion of Mother’s Day.
Respected Principal, my teachers, and friends! Today we have assembled here to celebrate ‘Mother’s Day’. I am going to tell you about the place of mother in the family’.
Great philosopher Dr Radhakrishnan once said, “God could not be everywhere and therefore He made mothers.” Mother is the name of God on the lips and in the hearts of little children. For her power of creation, mother has been compared to God.
A child, first of all, comes in contact with his mother. A mother teaches her child to speak. She holds his finger and teaches him how to move its feet. She is a producer, a protector, a provider, a power of tolerance, and an embodiment of love and affection. She always has enough enthusiam to carry out her duties, to take care of her children and make sacrifices for them. Without mother, a home is no better than a jungle.
We all know that today’s girl would be tomorrow’s mother. Then why there is large-scale discrimination against women? Why are women treated as second class citizens? Why is the desire for a son so strong in every family in India? We even deny the girl child the right to be born. Can we dream of a society with just male population?
All such discrimination against a girl or a woman should be stopped. She should be duly respected and well rewarded for her services and sacrifices for the family. Thanks.
Write a speech on ‘Importance of Clean India Camping’.
Respected Principal Sir, respected teachers and my schoolmates! We have often mentioned that a healthy mind resides in a healthy body. It is equally true of the nation’s mind. If our surroundings are neat and clean, we feel more enthusiastic and energetic to perform our duties. After cleaning our surroundings, we have to clean our conscience. Employers with clean conscience will work sincerely. They will not accept bribe. They will not be the victims of scams.
The ministerial body with clean conscience will refuse to misuse public money. The administrative machinary working under such body of honest ministers will follow suit. Conscience becomes clean with good education, good company and by eating the bread earned with the sweat of brow.
Very soon, good days willl come. Country will get rid of poverty, illness, hunger and tyranny of injustice. As our honourable Prime Minister Sri Narendra Modi is emphasizing on ‘Clean India’, we should try our best to make India clean and attractive.
Write a speech in about (150-200) words on emergence of Narendra Modi as Prime Minister of India. You are Nitesh/Neema the head boy/girl of the school. The speech is to be delivered on the celebration of Republic Day in your school.
Respected Principal Sir, respected teachers and my dear schoolmates! The general election of 2014 withnessed a new trend in the Indian politics. For the first time in the history of free India, the people elected a common man–a man of the street as their Prime Minister. He has risen from the masses. He knows and understands the pangs of poverty. He has slept under a leaking roof and knows how hunger pricks at the empty stomach. He, therefore, knows the troubles and misfortune of the common man.
He himself is a great patriot and is honest to the core. He intends to bring good health, prosperity and good days to the remotest huts in the Indian villages. But we find unhealthy criticism on the lips of some of the politicians and the authorities that flourished on scams and ill-earned money. There may be some selfish fanatics among his supporters. They spread hatred and enmity among the various creeds to hinder development. Let us pray to God that goodness may prevail upon wickedness and the poorest Indian should feel good. Thanks.

Though there are many kinds of pollution like – air pollution, soil pollution, water pollution, etc., but noise pollution is affecting our health very badly. Noise pollution is dangerous to our life. I am sure, our efforts will bring down the level of noise pollution in our colony.
Write out a speech to be delivered in the morning asembly of your school on the topic “How prayer Enriches your mind and soul.” Sign yourself as Karan/Kiran. (S.S. Exam 2015)
How Prayer Enriches Your Mind and Soul Honourable guests, respected principal and teachers. Friends, I stand before you to speak a few words about how prayer enriches you.
Friends, prayer is an individual’s direct and intimate communion with God. There is nothing very complex or elaborate in a prayer. It can be performed wordless and without any rituals or set format. Prayer elevaters the soul and cleanses the mind. It helps you resist temptations and fight such strong proclivities like greed, anger, lust and jealousy. Prayer is an ennobling experience. You become an intrincic part of the entire universe and transcend your body while praying. Prayer does not distinguish between age, physical possessions, caste or creed.
Every human being is an essential part of that absolute divine power and hence exists only – through that communion with the creator, which we call prayer. Prayer gives us strength and hope in adversity. Prayer helps us remain humble and watchful in prosperity. Prayer helps us become better human beings and brings us peace, insight, gratefulness and purity of mind and body.
So, the next time you pray, do it with all sincerity and joy, for you are speaking to your maker. Thanks.
