When I was seven years old, I thought camels hid behind sand dunes. When I was in 5th class, my parents carried me to Jaisalmer. I went to watch sand dunes there. Then, I found out that because of the same colour of sand and camels and shining heat, they (camels) become invisible. Moreover, high formation of sand dunes make camels invisible.

Dear diary
Today I visited Jaisalmer with my parents. I saw the small and big forts. Their architecture is very good. We went to see the desert. It is called thar. We saw shifting sand dunes there. We enjoyed camel ride there. We saw local residents there. They were in their traditional Rajasthani dresses. We came back to city. We enjoyed our meal of dal baati churma, kachori etc. We went to markets of the city. We did some shopping there. Our favourite part of the trip was the golden looking thar desert.

Mayuri! What does ‘swift’ mean?
मयूरी! swift शब्द का क्या अर्थ होता है?
Swift means ‘very fast’ Dhawal! There are many words which tell about the qualities of something or someone.
For example, beautiful Godawan, swift Chinkara and colourful festivals. These words tell us about the quality of something or someone.
These words are called ‘describing words’ (adjectives).
Swift का अर्थ बहुत तेज होता है धवल! अनेक शब्द किसी वस्तु या व्यक्ति के गुण बताते हैं।
उदाहरणार्थ, सुन्दर गोडावण, तेज चिंकारा तथा रंग-बिरंगे त्यौहार। ये शब्द किसी वस्तु या व्यक्ति के गुण बताते हैं।
इन शब्दों को विशेषण कहते हैं।

विभिन्न लोग विभिन्न बातें बताते हैं। किन्तु जब हमें उनके बारे में ठीक से ज्ञान होता है तो हमें पता चलता है कि उनकी कुछ बातें तो सही थीं पर सारी बातें सही नहीं थीं। अपने मित्र को वह बात बताइए जो आपको बताई गई थी किन्तु बाद में आपको पता लगा कि यह बात सही नहीं थी।
उदाहरणार्थ : जब मैं छोटा था तब मेरी दादीजी अक्सर मुझसे यह कहा करती थी कि यदि मैंने अपना संपूर्ण भोजन नहीं खाया तो एक ऊँट आयेगा और मुझे उठा ले जाएगा। बाद में, मुझे पता चला कि ऊँट केवल पौधों को ही खाते हैं और उन्हें इस बात से कोई मतलब नहीं है कि बच्चे अपना भोजन पूर्ण करते हैं या नहीं।

कठिन शब्दार्थ : someone (समवन) = किसी ने। told (टउल्ड) = बताया। all work (ऑल वक्) = काम ही काम । no time (नउ टाइम) = समय नहीं मिलना। fun (फन) = मनोरंजन। no one (नउ वन) = किसी ने नहीं। happy (हैप्पि) = खुश/प्रसन्न। feel (फील) = महसूस करना। assignments (असाइन्मन्ट्स) = नियत कार्य/दिया गया काम। found out (फाउन्ड आउट) = पता लगा।
हिन्दी अनुवाद – किसी ने मुझे बताया कि स्कूल/विद्यालय मतलब काम ही काम अर्थात् बच्चों को पढ़ाया ही पढ़ाया जाता है, मनोरंजन/खेल का तो समय ही नहीं मिलता है। किसी ने मुझे यह नहीं बताया कि विद्यालय के मेरे समस्त नियत कार्य/गृहकार्य पूर्ण कर लेने पर मुझे कितनी खुशी होगी अर्थात् होमवर्क पूर्ण होने पर बालक-बालिकाओं को प्रसन्नता होती है कि अब शेष समय वे खूब खेल सकते हैं। यह बात बालक कवि को तब पता चली जब वह स्वयं स्कूल में पढ़ा।

हिन्दी अनुवाद – किसी ने मुझे बताया कि वहाँ पाठ याद करने होते थे और बहुत से नियमों को ध्यान देना होता था। किसी ने नहीं बताया कि जिन पुस्तकों को मैं पढूंगा उसमें ऐसा जादू भी मिलेगा अर्थात् उनको पढ़ने से मनोरंजन व ज्ञान दोनों मिलेंगे।
