Question 1.
(i) Convert the following hours into minutes
1. \(1\frac { 1 }{ 4 }\) hour = …………. minutes
2. \(2\frac { 1 }{ 2 }\) hour = …………. minutes
3. \(5\frac { 3 }{ 4 }\) hour = …………. minutes
4. \(3\frac { 1 }{ 5 }\) hour = …………. minutes
Solution.
(1) \(1\frac { 1 }{ 4 }\) hour = 1 hour + \(\frac { 1 }{ 4 }\) hour
= 1 x 60 minutes + \(\frac { 1 }{ 4 }\) x 60 minutes
= 60 minutes + 15 minutes = 75 minutes
(2) \(2\frac { 1 }{ 2 }\) hour = 2 hour + \(\frac { 1 }{ 2 }\) hour
= 2 x 60 minutes + \(\frac { 1 }{ 2 }\) x 60 minutes,
= 120 minutes + 30 minutes
= 150 minutes
(3) \(5\frac { 3 }{ 4 }\) hour = 5 hour + \(\frac { 3 }{ 4 }\) hour
= 5 x 60 minutes + \(\frac { 3 }{ 4 }\) x 60 minutes
= 300 minutes + 3 x 15 minutes
= 300 minutes + 45 minutes
= 345 minutes
(4) \(3\frac { 1 }{ 5 }\) hour = 3 hour + \(\frac { 1 }{ 5 }\) hour
= 3 x 60 minutes + \(\frac { 1 }{ 5 }\) x 60 minutes
= 180 minutes + 12 minutes
= 192 minutes

Question 2.
Convert the time units of following questions,
1. 20 minutes = …………. seconds
2. \(6\frac { 1 }{ 2 }\) minutes = …………. seconds
3. \(15\frac { 1 }{ 4 }\)(RBSESolutions.com)minutes = …………. seconds
4. 4 hour = …………. seconds
5. \(2\frac { 3 }{ 4 }\) hour . seconds
Solution.
1. 20 minutes = 20 x 60 seconds
= 1200 seconds
2. \(6\frac { 1 }{ 2 }\) minutes = 6 minute + \(\frac { 1 }{ 2 }\) minute
= 6 x 60 seconds + \(\frac { 1 }{ 2 }\) x 60 seconds
= 360 seconds + 30 seconds
= 390 seconds
3. \(15\frac { 1 }{ 4 }\) minutes = 15 minute + \(\frac { 1 }{ 4 }\) minute
= 15 x 60 seconds + \(\frac { 1 }{ 4 }\) x 60 seconds
= 900 seconds + 15 seconds
= 915 seconds
4. 4 hour = 4 x 60 minutes
= 240 minute = 240 x 60 seconds
= 14400 seconds
5. \(2\frac { 3 }{ 4 }\) hour = 2 hour + \(\frac { 3 }{ 4 }\)hour
= 2 x 60 minutes + \(\frac { 3 }{ 4 }\) x 60 minutes
= 120 minutes + 3 x 15 minutes
= 120 minutes + 45 minutes
= 120 x 60 seconds +45 x 60 seconds
= 7200 seconds + 2700 seconds
= 9900 seconds
