Question 1.

How many meters are there in 3 [latex s=1]\frac { 1 }{ 2 }[/latex] kilometer ?

Solution.

3 [latex s=1]\frac { 1 }{ 2 }[/latex] kilometer = 3 kilometer + [latex s=1]\frac { 1 }{ 2 }[/latex] kilometer

= 3 × 1000 meter + [latex s=1]\frac { 1 }{ 2 }[/latex] × 1000 meter

=3000 meter + 500 meter

= 3500 meter

Therefore, there are 3500 meter in 3 [latex s=1]\frac { 1 }{ 2 }[/latex] kilometer

Question 2.

Convert 6500 gram into kilograms.

Solution.

6500 gram = 6000 gram + 500 gram

= 6 × 1000 gram + 500 gram

= 6 kg. + [latex s=1]\frac { 500 }{ 1000 }[/latex] kg

= 6 kg. + [latex s=1]\frac { 1 }{ 2 }[/latex] kg.

= 6 [latex s=1]\frac { 1 }{ 2 }[/latex] kg.

Therefore, there is 6.500 kg. in 6500 gram.

Convert 2250 millilitre into litres.

Solution.

2250 millilitre = 2000 millilitre + 250 millilitre

= 2 × 1000 millilitre + 250 millilitre

= 2 litre + 250 litre = 2.250 litre

= 2 [latex s=1]\frac { 1 }{ 4 }[/latex] litre

Express 18000 millilitre in litres.

Solution.

18000 millilitre = 18 × 1000 millilitre = 18 litre

∵ 1000 millilitre = 1 litre

Express 75000 gram in kilograms.

Solution.

75000 gram = 75 × 1000 gram = 75 kg.

Therefore, there is 75 kg in 75000 gram.
